Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has implored members of the Advertising and Integrated Marketing Communication industry to actively contribute to raising awareness about the transformative economic reforms initiated by the Tinubu administration.

Speaking at the National Advertising Conference in Abuja, themed "Marketing Communications As An Enabler of National Transformation," Idris emphasized the critical role of advertising and marketing professionals in disseminating information that shapes public opinion. He urged them to act as catalysts for Nigeria’s social and economic transformation by mobilizing citizens to fully embrace the reforms implemented by the administration.

Idris, represented by the Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. Lanra Issa-Onilu, highlighted key aspects of the economic reforms, including decisive decisions regarding the fuel subsidy, foreign exchange regime, fiscal reforms, tax landscape, and the National Social Register expansion. The administration aims at jobs, economic growth, macro-economic stability, ease of doing business, poverty reduction, social security, and enhanced human capital development.

The Minister outlined various initiatives such as the SME support program, the Presidential Conditional Grant Scheme, and Palliative Programs targeting different sectors. He emphasized the need for creative solutions from the advertising industry to effectively convey the economic opportunities emerging from these initiatives.

“It is about enlightenment, sensitization, and opening Nigerians' eyes to see the various economic opportunities emerging around them,” he stated, emphasizing the importance of avoiding sensationalism or distortion in conveying information.

Idris reassured the government's commitment to transparency and credibility in providing information, urging communications professionals to assist in conveying information with accuracy and openness.
